Join us for an evening with guest exhibition curator Suzanne Ramljak and hear her discuss artist Michael Ferris, his portrayal of the people who populate his world, and how it relates to the world of figurative sculpture.
Suzanne Ramljak, an art historian and writer, is currently a curator at the American Federation of Arts, New York. She was formerly editor of Metalsmith and of Sculpture magazines. Ramljak has worked in the curatorial departments of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Detroit Institute of Arts, and the University of Michigan Museum of Art. Among the exhibitions she has independently curated are Romancing the Brain; Case Studies: Art in a Valise; Playtime: Toys for Adults; and Natural Wonders: The Sublime in Contemporary Art. Her books include, On Body and Soul: Contemporary Armor to Amulets and Loaded: Guns in Contemporary Art.
This event is free to the public. The Center for Art in Wood interprets, nurtures, and champions creative engagement and expansion of art, craft, and design in wood to enhance the public’s understanding and appreciation of it. A suggested donation of $5 per person enables us to provide programs and exhibitions throughout the year.
