Art in Wood: Philadelphia’s American Craft Council Fellows

October 30, 2015 - January 16, 2016

Exhibiting past American Craft Council (ACC) Fellow Awardees:

Sharon Church, jeweler; David Ellsworth, wood turner; Michael Hurwitz, furniture maker; Bruce Metcalf, jeweler; and the late George Nakashima, furniture maker.

Each of the artists work in wood and have distinctive careers that span 25 years or more. The Philadelphia region is widely recognized for its rich history within the field of craft, now reflected in the number of local artists who have been elected to the ACC College of Fellows. In addition to the Center, The Clay Studio, The Philadelphia Art Alliance, and The Philadelphia Museum of Art will also be hosting exhibits of ACC Fellows that weekend as part of Craft NOW | Philadelphia; all of which will be documented in a full color book.

The exhibition is also notable as it serves as the context for the Center’s Annual Founders’ Fundraiser on Saturday, November 14, honoring each of these artists, and featuring Keynote Speaker and Honorary ACC Fellow Helen Williams Drutt English. Click here for more information on the Annual Founders’ Fundraiser.

All exhibitions are FREE to the public, with a suggested donation of $5 to help support nonprofit programs.
